New tool

My Christmas present arrived early this year: A brand new Canon G9.

I debated for a long time whether I wanted a Canon Rebel XTi or the G9. In the end, I recognized that my approach to photography demands a compact camera. And what a camera it is! The picture quality it amazing. Look at the photo below and then click on it to see a full size version. This photo was not taken at the highest setting. Not 12 megapixels or even 8 megapixels, but at 5 megapixels. And the image is straight out of the camera; no PhotoShop. Magnificent! I couldn't be more pleased.

Palmer Johnson

Breakfast came about an hour later than expected on Saturday, in spite of our growling stomachs. On the way to My Sister's Cafe, a breakfast place we hadn't tried before that's adjacent to the ship yards in Sturgeon Bay, we encountered a group of men moving a 150 foot boat back inside after they had pulled it out of the Palmer Johnson building to drop in a pair of generators. Some of the facts I learned were that the boat is made of aluminum and takes about 1-1/2 years to complete. The painting alone takes about 8 months. At the moment, they have five boats of various sizes under construction. I forgot to ask the price.
