Lightning Strike

Last Sunday there was a violent lightning storm with the outcome that it struck a tree in our parkway and another across the street. Miraculously, the only damage was that Carolyn’s computer no longer can connect to the internet via ethernet. It connect via wireless, but it will not recognize a hard connection.  Click player below to hear the thunder.

The tree across the street has a split running, about 1” wide, down from the upper part of the tree to the ground. And the street was littered with bark that was blown off the tree by the lightning.

Cars of Buenos Aires

Click image to see slide show.

There are a lot of unusual vehicles in Buenos Aires.  That is, unusual to a gringo like me.  The slideshow below is a compilation of cars, mostly, and other vehicles that caught my eye on the streets of BA.  The SUV in the two photos above certainly caught my eye because it’s a brand I’ve never heard of before, Chery.  Specifically, it’s a Chery Tiggo, which is manufactured across the river in Uruguay.  It is marketed as a the most inexpensive SUV.  Indeed, it costs about $15,000 US.  Unfortunately, it’s not available in the U.S.
