HELP!

Being stranded on an airplane is a problem that needs to be fixed.  I get claustrophobic, so the idea of getting trapped on an airplane is very unsettling.  According to our government, from January to June this year, 613 planes were delayed on tarmacs for more than three hours, their passengers kept on board.  The story below is the most recent one. 

Following is the letter I wrote to Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Dick Durbin and Roland Burris.  I urge you to write one too; we need to make a change!

I am writing to ask that you work on a "Passenger's Bill of Rights."  The story below is another example of why this is desperately necessary.  It's absolutely inhuman to detain people against their will like this.  Thank you.  John

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) By its sixth hour sitting on a deserted tarmac, Continental Express Flight 2816 had taken on the smell of diapers and an overwhelmed lone toilet.

What should have been a 2 1/2-hour trip from Houston to Minneapolis had moved into its ninth hour, and the 47 passengers on board had burned through the free pretzels and drinks handed out early in their Friday night flight from Houston.   continue reading story
