When we built Killasonna Lodge, Clarence Cihlar dug our septic field and installed our septic system. We have a high regard for Clarence because he did what he said he would, when he said he would and for the cost he said it would be. In addition, he took photos of what he did, which we really appreciated since we live 250 miles away and were not there to supervise.

Recently, the County sent us a form requiring an inspection of the septic tank. I called Clarence and he came out to take a look. He determined that no pumping was necessary at this point and submitted the report to the County accordingly. There are people who would take advantage of such a situation. Who are we to question him if he told us the tank needed pumping. Instead he sent us a bill for thirty bucks.

Nearly all of the contractors that we dealt with in Door County were scrupulously honest, just like Clarence. But there is one difference that separates them from Clarence Cihlar: None of them has been in business for 50 years. Congratulations, Clarence!
